Washington D.C. Trip 3/10/09

3/14/09 - message from Mary Holt:
Below are photos from our group of 15 Chebeague travelers visiting Washington D.C. this past week. The last photo is of a meeting with Congresswoman Chellie Pingree at the US Capitol Thursday afternoon. The group also had the opportunity to meet with Senator Olympia Snowe at her office. Our students asked good questions and interacted with great respect. In addition to visits with government officials, we've had exceptional private tours of the Supreme Court Building, the Capitol and the Library of Congress. The Bureau of Engraving & Printing is busy making more money, we saw millions stacked in tidy blocks. The students experienced the Hirshhorn Museum and the National Gallery of Art through an art scavenger hunt provided by Louisa Wickard, our CIS art teacher.

Today's activities included visits to various museums on the National Mall and a pizza party at the home of Barbara and Charles Marks. We have had a fabulous trip thus far and have much more planned for tomorrow. The student DC travelers will present a power point travel log to the community in the near future.
